Comedy On Comics: Yvonne Orji Could Star In A Marvel Superhero Movie, As ‘Spectrum’

Sure, we all know Yvonne Orji as Molly in Insecure. But, she would make for an excellent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given the power of social media, anything is possible. The character in mind for Orji: Spectrum. You may not be familiar with Spectrum, Yvonne might not be either. So let’s do a quick introduction.

Monica Rambeau aka Spectrum was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Frank and Maria Rambeau. She was a lieutenant in the New Orleans harbor patrol, and operated as a cargo ship captain. Trying to prevent the creation of a dangerous weapon, Rambeau is exposed to extra-dimensional energy. As a result, she is able to convert her body to energy. She is invisible and intangible in many of her energy forms (the most frequent exception being visible light), and is capable of flight in all her energy forms (reaching velocities up to and including light speed).

She decides to use her powers to fight crime and named herself as Captain Marvel (not the Captain Marvel getting a movie in 2019). Rambeau eventually changes her name, several times, but now she is referred to as Spectrum. She is an Avenger, and has led the group in the past. Known for her snarky, take-no-bullshit attitude, she’d be the perfect addition to the characters we already love onscreen.

Since we’re living in a time where studios listen, we can will this into life. Donald Glover is Miles Morales’ uncle because the internet campaigned so hard for him to be Spider-man. Spider-man came to the MCU due to excitement from leaked Sony emails. Deadpool exists because the internet loved test footage.

Given the range of what we’ve seen from Orji, we definitely can see her take on the Spectrum role with her own flare. So, the question is “Are you down to see this happen?”
