Damon Wayans Jr. Impersonates Lavell Crawford For Esquire, Mentions Working On Comedy Special

In a special feature, Esquire Magazine brought together 22 stand-up comedians to share some of their favorite jokes they’ve heard. Damon Wayans Jr. who participated in the feature, retold a joke he heard from Lavell Crawford during the days of BET’s Comic View. His retelling of the joke also came with a Lavell impersonation as he acted things out. Though he’s been known for TV & film, Damon did go on to tell Esquire that he’s been working towards a stand-up special. Check out Lavell’s joke that Damon considers to be one of the greatest ever.

Wayans Jr. has amped up his stand-up appearances in the past year (he calls it “instant gratification”) and gets in as much practice as possible. “I do open mics all the time,” he says. “I’m building toward a stand-up special.”
