HBO To Air Cancer-Stricken Comedian Quincy Jones’s Comedy Special

Quicny Jones is determined to get is health back in order. The Los Angeles based stand-up comedian has made headlines after his story went viral. For those who don’t know, Quincy is currently battling cancer and has been given 6 months to live. Last week, Ellen Degeneres invited Quincy to her show to help raise further awareness about his comedy special he has been pushing which included some financial backing. At the time Quincy didn’t have a network behind to push the upcoming special but thanks to a call from Ellen, HBO has stepped in to air it. The announcement was made today.

While most people can make a stand-up’s day by not staring at their phones for the entire duration of a set, Ellen went a smidge further and hooked terminally ill comic Quincy Jones up with an hourlong HBO special. Jones, who received a diagnosis of stage-four mesothelioma in 2015, had launched a Kickstarter with friends/producers Mickey and Nicole Blaine to record a special. Ellen not only placed the call to HBO, she also got Shutterfly to donate $15,000 to their cause. According to a press release from the network, the special will be released sometime this spring. Jones is set to record his hour on April 4, 2016, at L.A.’s Teragram Ballroom and tickets might still be available…
