Right now in Hip-Hop everyone is talking about the latest album from Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar. The newly released ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ album has been making noise with it’s message, and all around sound. Interesting enough, Kendrick seems to also have an eye in the comedy world. Now he isn’t telling jokes but he does end up referencing to one of comedy’s prestigous clubs in his lyrics. On the song, ‘You Aint Gotta Lie’ off the new album, Kendrick utters the line:

“Circus acts only attract those that entertain / Small talk, we know that it’s all talk / We live in the Laugh Factory every time they mention your name.” – Lamar

For those who are unfamiliar The Laugh Factory is comedy club chain spread out different parts of the U.S. and has been around since the late 70’s. The clever rap line has even been annotated by lyric site Genius to go more in depth. You can listen to the song below (0:25).
