To us it wasn’t a surprise that Atlanta FX was called upon this morning amongst Emmy nominated shows. The break out series starring Donald Glover has done nothing but gain a following since it’s 2016 debut. Now as we await a season 2; the series will be making it’s first trip to The Emmys. Atlanta is nominated for Best Comedy Series and Glover is nominated for Best Actor In A Comedy series. To keep the first time Emmy theme going; we have to also mention Leslie Jones was revealed to have received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (SNL). The 2017 Emmy Awards are going down this September.

Atlanta creator and Childish Gambino rapper Donald Glover was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy Series (and a Best Comedy Series nod), while OG rapper Snoop Dogg got in the game with a bid for Best Host of a Reality/Reality-Competition Program for his Martha Stewart collabo on Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. The competition this year will also feature an impressive array of movie stars (including four Oscar winners) vying for TV awards thanks to acclaimed turns in limited series, among them Robert De Niro, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lange, David Thewlis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Geoffrey Rush, John Turturro and Benedict Cumberbatch among others. The 69th annual Emmy Awards will be held on Sept. 17 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and hosted by The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert; the ceremony will air on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
