After reports began circulating of a departure from game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Cedric The Entertainer took to Twitter to confirm that he will no longer be the show’s host. With other projects including Barbershop 3, The Soul Man on TVLand, and new series Barber Battle he hinted that due to his schedule he can longer be apart of the show.
To all my fans of @MillionaireTV. I confirm that I have stepped away from hosting the show, due to the Production move to Conn, and my Sched. – @CedEntertainer
As I always say on the show in parting, ‘Watch your wallet’!” Cedric succeeded original Millionaire syndie host Meredith Vieira, who left last year after 11 seasons. Cedric took over the show last fall, and ratings have been stable with him at the helm. “Cedric is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for infusing his unique brand of humor and entertainment into the show,” Disney-ABC said. “It has been an absolute pleasure working with him on Millionaire this year — we’ll certainly miss him.” The production company is expected to name a new host. The move to Stamford, CT is being made for budget reasons, as it will bring savings and tax breaks. Projects Cedric is working on include his TV Land comedy series The Soul Man, a new reality series for the CW, Cedric’s Barber Battle, hosting the Critics’ Choice Awards and his own podcast as well as a couple of features, a Chris Rock film, the animated Planes: Fire & Rescue and the potential Barbershop triquel.
