Comedy Commandments: “Thou Shalt Not Under Cut A Fellow Comedian” #36
One thing that irritates me is to see a booker/promoter try to low ball a comedian their worth in order to save money or increase their own personal profits. What irritates me exponentially more is when I see comics help those promoters by doing shady business under the table deals. Knowledge is power and many times that knowledge is not used for good intentions. If you know what a comic is getting paid to do a show, and you offer your services to that promoter for a lesser amount in order to take that booking from the originally booked comic, you my friend, are not a good person. It’s that simple.
