It’s been a little over a year since Dave Chappelle dropped his last specials, Equanimity & The Bird Revelation on Netflix. During a speech in 2018 while accepting his W.E.B. Du Bois Award at Harvard the comedy great would tell audience members that he plans to do another special. Well over the weekend in San Diego at the Harrah’s Resort, he looks to be making good on that promise. According to our source, Chappelle and his team got together to begin the early steps of fine tuning an upcoming special. We’re hearing that Dave tested out a number of jokes that covers Kevin Hart’s Oscar controversy to the ‘Leaving Neverland’ documentary on Michael Jackson. Netflix has yet to confirm that Dave is set to return to their platform with another body of work but we’re hoping to have an update for you soon.
As you may know, earlier this year Dave would go home with his second Grammy for Best Comedy Album for his work on ‘Equanimity and Bird Revelation’. This week it was announced that Dave will kick off a 6-show residency in Minneapolis this month. Possible filming?
