This March, Grand Rapids is about to be flooded with comedians as they make their way to perform at the 2016 Laugh Fest. This year will mark 6 years for the annual comedy festival which takes place for 10 days. This week names of the line-up were announced that included DeRay Davis, Kathy Griffin, Marlon Wayans, Roy Wood Jr., Ron Funches, Finesse Mitchell, and Seth Meyers.
The nation’s first-ever festival of laughter, Gilda’s LaughFest, announced this morning that the event will return for its sixth season. LaughFest 2016 is scheduled for March 10 through March 20. An announcement regarding headliners, who will be part of the annual event, is expected later this year. The festival will continue to offer a variety of ticketed and free events, along with festival favorites, such as People and Pets, and the 5k FUNderwear Run. Proceeds and donations from LaughFest support the free emotional healthcare programs offered for children and adults living with cancer and grief for any reason through Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. During its first five years, funds raised during LaughFest accounted for approximately 10 percent of Gilda’s Club’s annual budget.
