Eddie Murphy In Talks For New Netflix Comedy With Brett Ratner About A Soul Singer

Eddie Murphy is looking to roll out some new projects. Earlier this year we were updated about his serious role in the Butler, and now he is in serious talks to star in an upcoming film with Netflix. The upcoming comedy Soul Soul Soul is to tell a story of a soul singer which will be directed by Rush Hour’s Brett Ratner.

Chris Case is writing the script for the comedy about a ’60s soul singer. Netflix is developing the comedy Soul Soul Soul: The Murray Murray Story. Chris Case, who previously worked on TV series Legit and co-created Yahoo’s Sin City Saints, will write the script. The film is a fake documentary about an iconic ’60s soul singer named Murray Murray. After a hot new artist samples his hit 1962 song, Murray attempts to get his old band back together in the hopes of taking down hip-hop. Eddie Murphy and Brett Ratner are negotiating to star and direct, respectively. Sources say they may wait to see the script before deals move forward. Murphy and Ratner would be reuniting after working on 2011’s Tower Heist together, and were at one time attached to collaborate on Beverly Hills Cop 4. Brian Grazer and Tyler Mitchell will produce.

Back in November of 2011 both Murphy & Ratner teamed up for film Tower Heist.
