You may have caught wind that a comedy called, Step Sisters was in the works. What you may not have known is the project stars Chris Rock’s girlfriend (actress Megalyn Echikunwoke) and will be available on Netflix on January 19th. Today the project’s trailer was released to better give us a look at the film. The story revolves around a mostly white sorority that hopes to learn how to step with hopes that their charter doesn’t get revoked.
The trailer has been released for the upcoming culture-shock comedy film, Step Sisters, debuting January 19 as a Netflix original. The film, originally planned for a March theatrical release, was in limbo after Broad Green Pictures halted its production division. This impacted over 50 theatrical releases they had pending. Scripted by Dear White People’s Chuck Hayward and directed by Drumline’s Charles Stone III, the story centers on an ambitious black sorority girl, Jamilah, who is enlisted by her dean to teach the art of black Greek stepping to a white sorority whose charter is about to be revoked. She does this so that she can get admitted to the law school of her dreams.
