Issa Rae Clarifies Her ‘Black Women Should Date Asian Men’ Comments: “It Was A Joke.. I Never Dated Outside My Race”

This morning, creator and actress Issa Rae stopped by ‘The Breakfast Club’ to get fans ready for season 3 of her series, ‘Insecure’. Rae has been extremely busy these days as she just wrapped the filming of her newest project, ‘Little’ in Atlanta, GA. While talking with The Breakfast Club, Rae would take on topics like getting back with an ex, social media etiquette, and advice.

Towards the middle of her talk, Rae would discuss the infamous time when Black twitter attacked her for a book excerpt she wrote about ‘Black women dating Asian men’. Rae would go on to clarify that the comment was a joke and she actually never dated outside of her race. “I wrote that in 2010…. it was a joke… I felt that it was beyond me…, “  she would tell listeners.
