Will Jamie Foxx ever get back into the comedy game? The last time we saw him actually star in a comedy dates back to 2004’s Breakin All The Rules, according to IMBD. He has made appearances in a few recent comedic films but nothing with him as the lead. For his most recent project, Jamie is now eyeing a role in the action flick Baby Driver.
Jamie Foxx is in talks to join Ansel Elgort and Lily James in TriStar Pictures’ “Baby Driver,” sources have confirmed to Variety. The details surrounding Foxx’s role are being kept under wraps. Edgar Wright is writing and directing the pic. Working Title principals Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan are producing along with Nira Park through her Big Talk Productions. “Baby Driver” will see a 50/50 financing split between MRC and TriStar, with TriStar handling worldwide distribution. The story follows a young, talented getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best. After being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a heist goes awry. Production is expected to start later this year with Sony recently announcing that the film will bow on Mar. 17, 2017.
It is also being noted that Foxx is attached to two other films, Sleepless Night and Mike Tyson’s biopic. Earlier this year, Jamie mentioned he still manages to practice comedy and even detailed some of his material. As of now Jamie and his more comedic side seem to be on hiatus.
