Jordan Peele just racked up another award for ‘Get Out’. Last night at The Writers Guild Awards, Peele walked home with the award for Best Original Screenplay at the annual ceremony. According to critics this win doesn’t quite guarantee a win at this year’s Oscars but Get Out can’t be ignored as a serious contender. Let’s see what happens when The Oscars air March 4th on ABC.

Does a WGA victory mean “Get Out” has the reserves to shock the world as the Academy’s best picture winner on Oscar night? Of course not. That would be a simplification. But it’s worth pondering. It could also simply mean there is an obvious choice for screenplay honors this year and everything is tracking. Either way, best picture glory remains up for grabs this season.
