Every year we get a chance to see a more comical side of political officials at The White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Last time Keegan-Michael Key (Of Key And Peele) joined Barack Obama on stage to act out his show’s translator sketch, and now another Comedy Central talent will stop by the annual event. Larry Wilmore was named yesterday to serve as the host for the upcoming 2016 event.
Comedy Central comedian and political commentator Larry Wilmore will host next year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, the organization announced Wednesday. “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore” host will be the entertainer at the dinner, scheduled for Saturday, April 30. “Larry’s edgy, even provocative, brand of humor means he’s certainly up to the task of skewering politicians of all ideological stripes, and we don’t expect the nation’s news media to escape unscathed, either,” said WHCA President Carol Lee, a White House correspondent for The Wall Street Journal. “We are thrilled that Larry has accepted our invitation to be the featured comedian at our annual dinner, which will be the last during the Obama White House.”
