We haven’t heard much on Richard Pryor’s awaited biopic with Mike Epps this whole year but we are hearing that things are still a go. At one point it seemed that the film was about to jump into filming mode following it’s casting. Lee Daniels who was attached to the project as a director recently sat down with Marc Maron on his WTF podcast. During his talk with Marc, Lee shared that he will now produce the film instead of directing it. He would also go on to share that the script is done.
“The script has been written…. I did a pass on the script…. Bill Condon ( wrote it ). Bill was going to direct it but he’s not. We’re looking for a director right now. They put the script together from a couple documentaries, some of the kids, his (Pryor’s) wife. “
Hopefully this means the project will move into production by 2018. Eddie Murphy, Tracy Morgan, Oprah Winfrey, and Kate Hudson are also attached to the film. You can listen to Daniel’s full interview here.
