Two comedy stars have now teamed up to round out the cast of Sony Pictures and Rovio Entertainment’s ‘Angry Birds’s’ sequel. Leslie Jones and Lil Rel are now confirmed to join the cast of the animation franchises second installment. The current castings fit right into the ongoing momentum of each comedian. As you should know, Rel is working on his first ever pilot at FOX & his new film ‘Uncle Drew’ arrives this Summer, while Jones is set to begin prepping for her newly announced film, ‘Baby Nurse’ with Colin Jost. As of right now, it’s unclear as to what characters they will portray but we’re certain they will add some memorable moments to the film.
They join returning actors Jason Sudeikis as the temperamental Red; Josh Gad as speedy Chuck; Bill Hader as Leonard, king of the pigs; Danny McBride as the volatile Bomb; and Peter Dinklage as the stentorian voice of the legendary Mighty Eagle. The sequel is directed by Thurop Van Orman, with co-director John Rice co-directing. Peter Ackerman, whose credits range from 2002’s Ice Age to FX’s Cold War thriller The Americans, is writing the screenplay. David Maisel and Catherine Winder are executive producers. Returning producer John Cohen said more cast announcement are landing soon.
