For Lil Rel, this year is starting off in a place that any rising comedian would hope for. Already a main feature on the hit sketch comedy series Friends Of The People with TruTv, Rel recently found out his NBC pilot starring Jerrod Carmichael has gotten picked up. So with those two things in motion for the Chicago native you would think things would be hard to top. Well on April 16th he plans to expand his name even further, as it now has been revealed that he will film a 1 hour comedy special produced by Kevin Hart. The special looks to be apart of a series of specials that Kevin will begin producing with Comedy Central. Last month Keith Robinson kicked things off for the newly premiered Kevin Hart presents features. Now Rel has decided to join in on the action. He will return back to his hometown of Chicago at Vic Theatre to tape the upcoming special. “Honestly with this, I want to bring that old school comedy special feel to it. This is going to be one of my greatest stand-ups ever,” Rel tells Comedy Hype. If hip-hop fans are expecting Yeezy Season, then comedy fans might want to brace themselves for Rel Season as this and other projects begin to role out this year.
