It’s been some time since we saw Marlon Wayans star in a series, back in 1999 his series The Wayans Bros. with brother Shawn Wayans came to an end. Now thanks to a development deal and NBC gearing up for new programming Marlon’s project on fatherhood is set to premiere on the network. As news came out on the pilot pick-up, Marlon let his fans know about his excitement to return to TV. “So excited to share this with you all. Gonna have fun returning to TV. Love any medium where I can be a fool and make y’all laugh and feel something. Got a great start to the new year”, he wrote on Instagram.

“Marlon” is loosely inspired by Marlon Wayans’ life. The multi-camera comedy revolves around an inappropriate, but loving father, played by Wayans, who is committed to successfully co-parenting with his polar opposite ex-wife. In addition to starring, Wayans will serve as a producer. Rick Alvarez and Michael Rotenberg will exec produce, along with Chris Moynihan who is the writer. This pilot also hails from Universal TV and 3Arts, in addition to Wayans Brothers Entertainment.
