Marlon Wayans To Play Aretha Franklin’s Husband In Biopic On The Singer’s Life

Marlon Wayans is about to lend his acting chops to an upcoming ‘Aretha Franklin’ biopic produced by MGM and Bron Creative. For the upcoming biopic, Wayans will take on the role of Ted White, Aretha’s first husband. Casting for the project also includes Jennifer Hudson (Aretha Franklin), Forest Whitaker, and Mary J. Blige.

Among the Franklin family members, Whitaker will play Reverend CL Franklin aka the man with the “Million-Dollar Voice,” Aretha’s father and manager. He served as the pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. Whitaker is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Wayans will portray Ted White, Aretha’s first husband.
