Robin Thede is back. The comedic actress who recently starred on BET’s ‘The Rundown’, is now headed to ABC with a sitcom based around her life’s story. According to Deadline, the currently untitled sitcom will touch on Thede’s life in which she grew up poor in a trailer park. Thede will executive produce and star in the series.
Robin Thede wasn’t down for long. The writer-comedian is getting her own network sitcom just a few months after the cancelation of her BET late night show, The Rundown. Thede will write and star in a semi-autobiographical sitcom for ABC, according to Deadline. The sitcom will jump between the childhood and adult life of Robin Sanders, a successful financial advisor who grew up in less than ideal circumstances. The still-unnamed sitcom is “inspired in part by her childhood growing up dirt poor in a trailer park.” The show will move between the two eras to show the ways that Sanders’ upbringing shapes the decisions she makes as an adult. The series is being executive produced by Thede and 30 Rock producer/Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon.
