Today, the future ABC’s ‘Roseanne’ could be in jeopardy over some unfortunate remarks from Roseann Barr this morning on Twitter. While responding to a user, Barr would end up stating that she felt Barack Obama’s former advisor Valerie Jarrett was “if the muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby”. Immeditaley following, Barr would try to apologize for the remark but its damage looks to have already been done.
Wanda Sykes has now taken to her Twitter and shared she will no longer return to the show as it’s Consulting Producer. “I will not be returning to Roseanne on ABC”, she would message to her followers. Sykes did not elaborate on the exact reason for her decision but we’re pretty certain that Barr calling another woman of color ‘Planet Of The Apes’ was one of the main reasons. People have now took to social media to demad that Barr’s show should be pulled off the air. ABC has yet to publicly respond to the incident, we will keep you updated.

Wanda Sykes’s latest gig has her back in conversations on race and politics. For those who don’t know, Sykes served as a writer for the revival season of Roseanne on ABC. The series has been labeled a hit but some are calling it Pro-Trump.
In a new talk with Metro.US, Sykes goes on to thoroughly explain why the show is not ‘Pro-Trump’ and according to her, she’s really bothered when people make those claims. Check out the excerpt below of Sykes explaining how she views the show.
MU: Your views don’t exactly align with Roseanne Barr’s thoughts on the president. Why did you choose to work on the revival and how much did you contribute to the show?
I was in the room for like two days a week, helping punch up stories and jokes. I was really happy with the way things turned out with the scripts. I’m a Roseanne fan. I’m a fan of the show. It saddens me, but it also cracks me up. Extreme anything is nuts. Extreme left is just as nuts as the extreme right. The only way that we’re going to patch things up in this country is the people in the middle got to start talking to each other instead of just battling it out on Twitter. “Roseanne” speaks to so many people. They just want to be entertained. It kills me when people say it’s a pro-Trump show. Absolutely not. These people are struggling. They’re sharing medication. Trump’s America, they’re still broke as hell. Trump takes credit for everything and we can’t control that.
And Roseanne, when my production company brought back “Last Comic Standing” for NBC, they told us you got to get big judges. Roseanne was the first one we reached out to. She was chilling in Hawaii. She met with us and we had dinner, and she’s hilarious. I’m a lesbian, my producing partner is a lesbian, and she was like, “I want ya’ll to succeed. I want to help you out. I want to win.” I mean, Roseanne is just an old lady who shouldn’t be on Twitter. She believes everything she reads because, when you’re from that generation, you read stuff, you’re like, “Well, what do you mean it’s not true? I’m reading it!” Look, I accidentally followed Justin Bieber for 30 minutes and it scared the s–t out of me.
Before ending the interview, Wanda would go on to say that she is working towards a return to TV of her own, “I am looking for something.”
This Morning, Mo’Nique stopped by The View and was given the floor to discuss her ongoing Netflix boycott. In January, the Oscar Award-winning comedian jumped back into the spotlight when she expressed she was low-balled by Netflix for her comedy special. With Whoopi Goldberg at the table, Mo’Nique would speak on her position and why she has decided to speak out.
As the conversation came to an end, Mo’Nique would even address her fall out with Lee Daniels, Oprah, and Tyler Perry.
