As expected here at Comedy Hype, viewers of hit animated series ‘The Boondocks’ will be getting a new season according to one of it’s stars. Last week while as a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience, John Witherspoon revealed that The Boondocks in which he stars on the show as granddad will be getting a season 5. No word if Aaron McGruder will be apart of the upcoming season.
‘The Boondocks’ is returning to the small screen … according to John Witherspoon. During a recent interview on Joe Rogan’s podcast, the 77-year-old actor claimed the irreverent animated series would be back for season 5. Witherspoon voiced the character of Robert Jebediah “Granddad” Freeman throughout the show’s four-season run. The Boondocks’ last episode premiered in June 2014 on Adult Swim…. “I’m on the cartoon—what is it? The Boondocks? I didn’t change my voice for The Boondocks,” Witherspoon said when explaining how he stays true to himself with every role. “And they coming back: The Boondocks is coming back … It’s one of the best cartoons I’ve ever been on.” Adult Swim has not confirmed The Boondocks’ revival, though there has been a lot of speculation about its return in recent years. The series was based on a comic strip by Aaron McGruder and premiered in late 2005. McGruder executive produced the first three seasons, but did not return for the fourth.
