Is Kendrick already a legend? Questioning why people go viral off stupid videos? Ever wonder if you could do standup comedy? How do Hip Hop, comedy, social media influence, fashion, politics, and all of pop-culture intertwine? Though based on hip hop and comedy, the KeepItBasement podcast covers all these topics and more.
New Jersey’s own Mike Sweeney, a.k.a. The Sweenz is a radio personality and interviewer who has worked for Fox Sports and CBS. He is the owner and producer of #KeepItBasement Media, which has accumulated over 4 million views via YouTube, WordStar, SoundCloud and iTunes. He has conducted memorable interviews with Lil Dicky, Charlamagne Tha God, Robert Greene, Karen Civil, Angela Yee, Cipha Sounds and many more. On the KeepItBasement podcast, The Sweenz is joined by New Jersey stand-up comedians Alex Nicholas and Tom Zappia to discuss all that is going on in the world of hip hop and comedy, without leaving out all other current events. Alex is a Stress Factory regular and Tom Zappia will be performing at the Charm City Comedy Festival in May. The three delve deep into the subject matter and try to examine all points of views closely without failing to keep you entertained. Every so often the trio is joined by a special guest, usually from either the music or comedy world to discuss more about their experiences and try to learn more about what makes them want to do what they do.
KeepItBasement aims to inform, give opinions, but most importantly, entertain. Join the crew weekly on iTunes or SoundCloud and be all ears for whatever’s been trending that week. Also, welcome in the inevitable sex, relationship and “bro” talk to round the episode out. Remember laughter is the best medicine, social media influences everything, music helps everyone and most of all keep it the basement.
