As shared actress Taraji P. Henson took over the hosting duties for SNL’s most recent episode. In one of her many skecthes she ended up impersonating stand-up comedian Wanda Sykes. Turns out that Wanda was able to catch the impersonation but ended up telling Syracuse paper that it was hard to watch.
Last Saturday, “Empire” actress Taraji P. Henson drew big laughs with her impersonation of Wanda Sykes on Saturday Night Live. In a “Hollywood Game Night” sketch, Henson complained loudly in Sykes’ salty voice and strutted up around the set with Sykes’ signature swagger. “I was flattered she paid that much attention to me, but it was kind of hard to watch,” said Wanda Sykes, laughing in a phone interview on April 14. “I was like, ‘My God, do I really walk like that? That’s awful.’ I look like John Wayne.”
In the same interview, Wanda also brought up the fact that she has never hosted SNL despite the show’s love of impersonating her. “It’s funny I’ve been on SNL played by someone else more than I’ve ever been on,” she went on to say.
